Lisford House was a bookbindery until 1987. The bindery room itself — top floor, north light, pressing tables set in a row — survived intact as a workshop until we bought the building in 2019.

We kept the pressing table. It is now the desk in the Bindery Suite, with a glass top over the original leather. The floor is the same oak, planed and re-oiled. The window glass is the same, and the view across Binders Lane is the same.

What we changed: we put a bathroom where the storage cupboards had been, we added a small kitchen counter at one end, and we cut a doorway through to the roof. The roof terrace is shared with the Library Room next door.
